Ownership terms

This page explains who owns what when Aspectobots builds a bot for you. The binding version will be published before Discord opens, and it will not give you fewer rights than this page describes.

Summary

• Architect and Guild: your bot's generated code is licensed to you under MIT from the first build. You can read it, export it and host it anywhere.
• Full ownership: after 12 paid months, we assign the copyright in your bot's generated code to you. You can then relicense it however you like.
• One-time builds (Blueprint, Assembly, Commission): MIT license and copyright assignment on the day you pay.
• Resident (free) and Commons (ad supported): the bot runs on our hosting under a hosted use license. The code is not MIT and can't be exported. Your data, settings and Discord application stay yours.
• The shared runtime: the library every Aspectobots bot runs on is published by Aspectora under MIT. You can use it freely as long as its notice stays in it.

The MIT license

Every paid build includes a LICENSE file with this text. The copyright line names you once full ownership has transferred, and Aspectora before then. MIT can't be withdrawn from a copy you already have, so exports stay usable after you cancel.

Full ownership

MIT already lets you do nearly anything with the code, but the copyright stays with its author. Full ownership moves the copyright itself to you, which is what lets you pick a different license, close the source, or register the work as your own.

• When: the day a one-time build is paid, or once a subscription reaches 12 paid months in total. The months don't need to be in a row, and a yearly plan counts as 12.
• What moves to you: the code generated for your bot, including a custom feature built on a Commission.
• What stays with Aspectora: the shared runtime library and our feature templates. Both are MIT, so your bot keeps using them wherever it runs.
• How: a signed assignment is added to your bot's repository and emailed to you, and the LICENSE copyright line changes to your name.
• Handing off: Guild members can transfer a bot, with its ownership, to a client or collaborator from the dashboard.

Hosted use license (Resident and Commons)

Free and ad-supported bots run only on Aspectobots hosting. You can use the bot in any server you manage, for any lawful purpose, while your account is in good standing. You can't copy, extract or redistribute the generated code. You own your settings, custom command text, images and server data, and you can export all of it as JSON at any time. Moving to a paid plan makes the code MIT from that build on.

Ad policy

Discord's developer policy doesn't allow apps to target users with ads or share Discord data with ad networks. Aspectobots follows that on every plan.

• Commons ads appear only on the Aspectobots website and dashboard, and only to the account holder.
• Ads are chosen by the page they appear on, not by profiling you or your members.
• No bot ever posts, DMs or embeds an ad in a Discord server.
• No Discord data, member list or message content is ever passed to an advertiser.

Duty Rate terms

Firefighters, EMS, police, dispatchers, active duty, reserve and veteran members of the armed services, nurses, doctors, licensed electricians and licensed plumbers get 40% off Architect and Guild and 25% off every one-time build.

• A third-party verification service confirms eligibility and tells us only yes or no. We never receive or store your ID.
• Trades qualify with a current license or union membership.
• The discount lasts while your status is verified. We ask you to re-verify once a year.
• One account per person. It can't be combined with other promotions.

Privacy

Before launch, the only personal data we hold is what you type into the roster form: your email address, optional Discord username, the answers you choose, and any sketch you saved, plus when you joined. To stop spam we also keep a one-way hash of your IP address, never the address itself. We use it all to plan capacity and to send the emails you asked for: one confirmation now and launch news later. We send them from our own server, and we don't sell or share your data with anyone.

Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link that works immediately, not in 48 hours. The same page lets you delete everything we hold about you, straight away.

After launch, bots store only what their features need. Verification stores pass or fail and a timestamp. Sealed posts keep the link between a post and its author encrypted, and revealing it needs two staff members and leaves an audit entry.
